You can even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abercrombypractice.scot.nhs.uk\/help-and-support-service-types\/self-referral\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"7466\">self-refer<\/a> for some services without seeing your GP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>For&nbsp;<strong>real life-threatening emergencies<\/strong>&nbsp;such as those below \u2013&nbsp;<strong>RING 999<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhs.uk\/conditions\/chest-pain\/\">Chest pain <\/a>(suspected heart attack)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhs.uk\/conditions\/stroke\/symptoms\/\">Suspected stroke<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhs.uk\/conditions\/meningitis\/symptoms\/\">Suspected meningitis<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Anaphylactic shock (severe allergy)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Heavy bleeding or deep lacerations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fluctuating levels of consciousness or completely unconscious<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Difficulty breathing or stopped breathing with a change in colour<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>New seizure, fit or uncontrollable shaking<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For immediately&nbsp;<strong>serious conditions<\/strong>&nbsp;such as the following,&nbsp;<strong>GO TO Emergency Department (A&amp;E) IMMEDIATELY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>A fever and lethargic (drowsy) child<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A feverish and floppy (unresponsive) infant<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Difficulty breathing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sudden, severe abdominal pain<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accidental or intentional overdose of medication<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trauma (including falls) and possible broken bones or road traffic accident<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Patients who have a problem outwith the surgery opening hours that can\u2019t wait until the surgery reopens should&nbsp;contact NHS24 by dialling&nbsp;111.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"your-appointment-at-the-practice\">Your appointment at the Practice<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Please make one appointment for each member of the family who needs to be seen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We try to keep to time but please be patient if someone before you takes longer than planned<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Appointments are normally ten minute slots, so if you have a complicated problem, or more than one problem, please ask for a longer appointment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is Practice Policy to allow patients to choose whichever Doctor they wish to attend in the Practice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"please-help-us\">Please help us<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are not able to attend your appointment please let us know in time so that the time can be used for someone else. If you are late for an appointment you may be asked to re-book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/www.abercrombypractice.scot.nhs.uk\/clinics-and-services\/appointments-tests-referrals\/appointments-with-the-doctors\/cancel-an-appointment\/\">Cancel appointment<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-coblocks-accordion\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-coblocks-accordion-item\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"additional-information\">Additional information <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-coblocks-accordion\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-coblocks-accordion-item\"><details><summary class=\"wp-block-coblocks-accordion-item__title\">Can I bring someone to accompany me to the Appointment?<\/summary><div class=\"wp-block-coblocks-accordion-item__content\">\n<p>We are generally very happy for patients to bring with them a carer, relative or even a friend. This often helps, particularly when they know you well and it allows them to tell us any observations they would make about you, which can help us in undertaking our assessment. Ultimately this will lead us more quickly to make an accurate diagnosis and therefore help you more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, having someone with you means they can prompt you to ask questions that you may have forgotten, and after the appointment they can help in reminding you what was discussed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Occasionally we might ask for them to leave but this would be unusual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you require&nbsp;interpretation services please contact us in advance of you appointment and we will arrange this.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-coblocks-accordion-item\"><details><summary class=\"wp-block-coblocks-accordion-item__title\">If you have a suspected infectious disease<\/summary><div class=\"wp-block-coblocks-accordion-item__content\">\n<p>Please inform reception if you suspect an infectious disease, as this will enable us to deal with it appropriately during your visit to protect you, other patients and staff.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div><\/details><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-coblocks-accordion-item\"><details><summary class=\"wp-block-coblocks-accordion-item__title\">Giving Consent for Treatment<\/summary><div class=\"wp-block-coblocks-accordion-item__content\">\n<p>You have the right to accept or refuse treatment that is offered to you, and not to be given any physical examination or treatment unless you have given valid consent. If you do not have the capacity to do so, consent must be obtained from a person legally able to act on your behalf, or the treatment must be in your best interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your valid consent (agreement to the course of action) is needed for the treatment that\u2019s offered to you before any physical examinations or treatment can be given. If you haven\u2019t given your consent, you can accept or refuse treatment that\u2019s offered to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s important to be involved in decisions about your treatment and to be given information to help you choose the right treatment.
